Today I exercised my right to vote, one of my rights as an American.
No matter what people think of American politics and politicians today, it is
fundamental that they get involved in the process.
I hear some of my friends that are up in arms about the government, about this or that.
Well do they vote?
Some do not, even though they are registered and can.
I hear a lot of attack ads and negative things on T.V. about this or that politician.
In my state of Connecticut, the Senatorial race is one of the dirtiest campaigns that I can remember.
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is running against former CEO of WWE(World Wrestling Entertainment) Linda McMahon. Every other ad on T.V. is her slinging mud at him, him defending himself...back and forth.
But no matter how annoyed I get with these ads, I still respect their rights to them...and I am happy we have
the right to choice in this country.
Democrats...Republicans...Tea Party...Independent...
no matter what your political stand, no matter how angry you are...dissent and
debate are the backbone of a democracy. If we were not allowed to debate and disagree we might be living
in an autocracy, a dictatorship or a monarchy.
Apathy is one of the greatest threats to democracy, I believe.
So everyone in America who can...there's still time.
Go vote!
